Frequently Asked Questions

I need to book wedding makeup and hair services. What should I do next?

How soon should I book my wedding date, for hair and makeup services?

Weddings can be booked up to 18 months in advance, and no later than 5 months to ensure your date, especially if you are in the popular wedding months of May, June, September, and October, or have a large wedding party. However, if you are in a pinch, let us know and we will do our best to try and accommodate you.

Why is the bride’s hair and makeup more expensive than the bridal party?

From the very first point of contact through the wedding day, a lot of time and attention goes to our brides. Many phone calls, emails, contracts, time creating day-of schedules, coordinating your glam squad, and the extra time and attention to get the bride ready on the wedding day are factored into our pricing. Since the bride is our main client all of this is factored into her pricing, but not in the group pricing for the wedding party.

Do you have a minimum for on-location services?

Yes, we do have a minimum for all of our on-location services of the bride plus three people per service, or $450.

What if I had someone else in mind for makeup, but wanted Let’s Do to provide hair services or vice versa?

We understand that you have a friend or someone else close to you that can do one of your wedding day beauty applications, and we are okay with that. However, keep in mind that booking a totally different salon for services can cost you additional travel fees, trial appointments, and extra scheduling headaches. There is also something to be said about working with fully trained, licensed, and insured wedding stylists and pros. From having contracts that protect both parties to the latest in training and high sanitation standards, counting on a friend to handle tight wedding day timelines and stress can often backfire.

The importance of hiring a pro!

There are plenty of friends, freelancers, and pyramid makeup demonstrators out there which is why it is so important to hire a PROfessional (emphasis on PRO) on one of the most important days of your life. The Let’s Do Makeup and Hair Team is fully insured, licensed, and professionally trained. Our team is fully vetted and has years of experience exclusively providing wedding and special event makeup and hair applications.

In a Covid-era world sanitation of makeup brushes, applicators, equipment, and all surfaces is also very important. Our licensing ensures that we stay trained and up to date on the latest safety and health code guidelines helping to ensure your safety.

We also have spent the last decade building wedding vendor relationships that make us part of a wedding day #dreamteam! Wedding planners, venues, caterers, florists (you name it) know that they can count on us and likewise. This connection of strong working relationships with other wedding pros also includes other professional stylists ensuring that we have extra outside connections to pull from if needed. You can learn more about some of our favorite Wedding Friendors (friend+vendor) HERE.

I booked Let’s Do Makeup and Hair and now need to schedule my Makeup & Hair Trial.

When should I book my hair and makeup trial?

Trial runs should be booked 10-14 weeks in advance. This gives you time to rest easy knowing it’s scheduled and it gives us time to help you remedy anything like blemishes, dry hair, or fix hair color issues. Please note that because we are booked with weddings on Saturdays, your trial will need to be scheduled on a weekday.

How should I prepare my skin and hair for my trial appointment?

Your hair (and anyone else booked) should be clean and completely dry. We do NOT bring hair dryers to the wedding day. You should use your normal moisturizer routine that day. Please do not wax your brows or receive a facial closer than 5 days prior to the wedding day. Also, remember to wear a robe or button-up shirt on the wedding day so as not to mess up your hair and makeup as you change into wedding attire.

Besides bringing my headpiece and veil to the trial run, do I need anything else?

Having your headpiece, decorative clips, or veil along for your trial run is very important, but we also recommend bringing along any inspirational photos is always helpful.

Will the artist at my trial be the same artist for my wedding day?

Yes - absolutely! The purpose of your wedding hair and makeup trial is for both you and your artist to get to know each other and perfect the look you are going for. The day your trial is booked we put a tentative hold on that artist for your wedding date. However, please remember that if we have not received your retainer and contract shortly after your trial, we will open up that artist's schedule.

What if I have short hair and want it to look longer? What are my options?

We can help you navigate what type of extensions might work best for you. This is important to discuss and plan for prior to your trial appointment in case any special orders need to be placed.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please be sure to truly read your contract (for all your vendors too!) so that you fully understand what both party’s obligations are. We require a 50% non-refundable retainer payment at the time of booking. That means if you reschedule your date (no matter the circumstance) and we cannot accommodate your new date or if you completely call off the wedding (no matter the circumstance), you will not receive any of that non-refundable retainer back.

My Wedding Day is getting close. Now, what do I do?

How should I prepare my skin and hair for my wedding day?

Your hair (and anyone else booked) should be clean and completely dry. We do NOT bring hair dryers to the wedding day. You should use your normal moisturizer routine that day. Please do not wax your brows or receive a facial closer than 5 days prior to the wedding day. When should the Bride’s hair and makeup be completed on the “Day of” beauty schedule?

We highly recommend that the bride gets her hair and makeup done somewhere in the first part or middle of all the other applications. This keeps her looking fresh for photos without running the risk of being late for your photography timeline. Remember that the photographer NEEDS YOU in the majority of your wedding day images so we want to ensure that you look fabulous and are on time!

Are you wondering how long it will take you to get your hair and makeup done on the wedding day?

For our brides, they should plan on 60-75 minutes for hair and 1 hour for makeup so 2 hours total. Bridesmaids and Mothers need 30-45 minutes for hair and 30-45 minutes for makeup for a total of 1.5 hours.

Let’s do some wedding day hair and makeup math to demonstrate (Sorry in advance for the math word-problem flashbacks!).

When should we expect our wedding day beauty timeline from you?

Typically about 3 weeks before your wedding we will create a wedding day beauty timeline so that everyone knows where to be and when. We will also gladly work with your planner to create this timeline with them. It takes a lot of time and effort to make these timelines and the first timeline we provide includes one revision at no cost. All other revisions thereafter are $50 each.

What are your bridal suite needs?

The Let’s Do Team has done makeup in church basements, catering kitchens, and a whole lot of everything else in between! However, a great bridal suite should have natural/window light we can work near, plenty of outlets, and mirrors. Our team has their own makeup chairs and tables that they can bring if needed, but the more you can tell us about where you’re getting ready the better our team can prepare.
